The 7 best water bottles we tested (2024): Owala, Hydro Flask, Yeti


Get one that’s reusable Water bottles are a great way to eliminate single-use plastic and stay hydrated. Most people have specific preferences for their water bottles—nearly every WIRED staffer has theirs—so the best water bottle is the one you’ll use. If you’re not sure where to start, we’ve rounded up our favorites after years of trial and error and a lot of research.

No matter what bottle or brand you choose, remember that you don’t have to own a collection of any one type of bottle—but defeats the environmental purpose Buy a reusable bottle in the first place. How much water do you really need?

Drinking water is extremely important, but there is no one-size-fits-all answer to how much water we all need. The old rule of eight glasses a day isn’t for everyone, but it’s a good starting point. Talk to your doctor, who can evaluate your needs based on your health and lifestyle. If you are active, exercise and sweat a lot, you should drink more, such as if you are in a hot, humid area. If you’re thirsty, drink.

The Mayo Clinic states that about 20 percent of your daily fluid intake should come from food and that – counting from drinking and eating – adult men should drink about 3.7 liters per day and women 2.7 liters per day day. Drink too much water Maybe causes your sodium levels to drop to dangerous levels in a condition called hyponatremia, but that’s, yeah, quite a lot of water. Sipping on your water bottle all day isn’t a problem.
