On Monday, June 3, Combination published an exclusive interview with Yung Miami. According to the source, their conversation with the rapper took place a few weeks before May 13.

During the chat, Miami explained that she has recently been inspired by haters. Additionally, she explained that the naysayers made her want to jump into the studio to sing some solos.

“I really had to get my bag back. People were just talking crazy to me… So going through the bad stuff really pushed me to get into the studio and make music,” she said.

Furthermore, the female rapper also shared what inspired her to want to release an entire solo project. She explained that her and JT’s last City Girls project, ‘RAW’, released in October 2023, “wasn’t very successful” and that they were just in “two different spaces.”

“I think when the City Girls album [RAW] just dropped, and it wasn’t doing very well, and we were just trying to do our journalism. The whole process of releasing the album was terrible because we were in two different spaces,” she said. “We are older now and she is [JT] is doing her own thing. She’s on the West Coast, I’m in Miami. I’m doing my own thing. And I feel like naturally, when she does her own thing, it’s beneficial for her. And when I do my own thing, it works for me. But when we gathered as a group, there was no connection. It doesn’t work anymore.”

Yung Miami explained that she and JT were both at a point where they decided to pursue their own solo projects.

The rapper spoke out about setting boundaries with fans

As the interview continued, Miami explained that she felt the only way to succeed was to “block out the noise.”

“I feel like we’re in the age of trolling, so you have to block out the noise,” she explains. “…So it’s like you have to move on and learn how to block out the noise. Only then can you succeed…”

The 30-year-old explained that she used to be very “open” with fans and that showing off her natural personality used to be “fun.” However, she has now decided to set “boundaries” due to “negative reactions”.

“I feel like I used to be very open. I’ll go on Instagram Live and just talk. I don’t do that anymore. I do it, but it’s not fun anymore. People are just overinvesting,” she explains. “It used to be fun. This is how I come in, play live, and be myself. But now I can say anything and this is so serious or so negative or so bad. That’s the boundary I have to set. I won’t go live and I’ll talk less; as simple as beautiful. I don’t do as many things as I used to.”

Ultimately, Miami explained that she hated that her decision affected the fans who actually supported her. However, being open on social media is no longer “mentally fun.”

It probably won’t be our last debate. This time, it was posted on the Internet. It was a lot of emotions.
