Zoom for Mac users should update now to fix a major security bug
Some existing versions of Launch for Mac can expose controls of your computer to malicious attackers and you may not even know it, the company has warned.
The issue – which has been identified as CVE-2022-28762 – is believed to be in the macOS Zoom client versions 5.10.6 through 5.12.0 (excluded).
To check the version of TV affair platform you have, open the Zoom desktop app on your Mac and go to ‘zoom.us’ on the taskbar. From here, check your build number under ‘About Zoom’ and follow ‘Check for updates…’ if necessary.

“When contextual camera mode is enabled as part of the Zoom Application Layer API by running certain Zoom Applications, a local debug port is opened by the Zoom client,” said the company’s advice.
This means that a local malicious user can use the exposed debug port to connect to – and control – the macOS Zoom client.
The issue has been given a CVSS score of 7.3, representing a high degree of severity. Zoom recommends that all users use the most up-to-date version of the software to protect themselves from such vulnerabilities.
