Zomato co-founder, CTO Gunjan Patidar quits


Online food delivery platform Zomato said co-founder and CTO Gunjan Patidar stepped down on Monday.

Patidar was one of the first few employees of tomato and build core technology systems for the company, it said in a regulatory filing.

“Over the past 10 years, he’s also nurtured an outstanding team of technology leaders capable of taking on future technology leadership roles. His contribution to building Zomato was priceless,” the company said.

However, it did not disclose the reason for his resignation.

In November of last year, another co-founder of the company, Mohit Gupta, resignation. Gupta, who joined Zomato four and a half years ago, was appointed co-founder in 2020 from the position of CEO of the company’s food delivery business.

Zomato saw a number of top-level departures last year, including Rahul Ganjoo, head of new initiatives, and Siddharth Jhawar, vice president and head of Intercity, and co-founder of Gaurav Gupta.

On the other hand, in recently The 2022 India Fairwork Rankings report, Zomato scores 4 out of 10 on the basis of providing fair working conditions for gig workers. The ratings are decided based on reviews of several online platforms according to five principles: Fair Pay, Fair Conditions, Fair Contracts, Fair Management, and Fair Representation.

The report assessed 12 location-based service delivery platforms in areas such as personal and home care, logistics, food delivery, e-pharmacy and transportation in India. These platforms include Amazon Flex, Big basket, Dunzo, overturned car, Ola, easy medicine, porters, Swiggy, Uber, Urban company, Zepto and Zomato.
