YouTube is reportedly planning to launch a ‘channel store’ for streaming services

YouTube has been working on an online store where you can buy subscriptions to various streaming services, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Google-owned video streaming platform is said to have developed a “channel store” for at least the past 18 months and is currently in talks with potential partner companies. YouTube gave it 65$ a month Online TV optional subscribers to add access to additional services like HBO Max. However, the upcoming store will apparently offer people a way to purchase the à la carte streaming service from the main YouTube app.

Magazine says YouTube is promoting its platform as a great way for companies to market their streaming service, as viewers can watch the trailer for free on their website or app, and then It’s easy to pay for a subscription. Partner companies will likely have to share their earnings with YouTube for purchases made within the video platform. YouTube, the publication said, discussed how to split subscription revenue with them, although the terms differ for each partner.

Even with the prospect of having to share revenue with partners, more streaming services are now open to the idea of pooling or grouping. Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch told Magazine that combining streaming services with other players will create a better user experience. Additionally, it exposes the provider’s services to more people and makes subscribers less likely to cancel. In the case of YouTube, the app is already widely used and can provide paid users with a single platform to manage several subscriptions. For streaming service providers, making their services available and easier could help them survive what analysts believe. a difficult year marked by the loss of a significant number of users.

According to the report, YouTube’s “channel store” could launch this fall, although it has yet to be confirmed that the project exists and that they are in talks with potential partners.
