Microsoft gave away some cool and totally weird custom dashboards in the past, but its latest creation might categorize them into the exotic. To celebrate the upcoming launch of Sonic the Hedgehog 2the company is giving away a movie-themed Xbox Series S that comes with a pair of feathered controllers modeled after Sonic and Knuckles.
The gamepads are covered in what Microsoft describes as “textured coating reminiscent of the ‘tough’ texture of hedgehogs in the wild.” Defending that Knuckles is an echidna, the controllers are officially named Sonic Blue and Knuckles Red. It looks like only the front of these controllers is covered in fur; the back still keeps the standard textured plastic. The dashboard itself is painted black with a large gold ring around the vents with images of the two adversaries clashing. At least it’s… imaginative, though I can’t imagine the dust and debris those controllers would collect over time. But at least they should feel comfortable in the hand.
