Yoga vs Pilates: How To Know Which Is Best For You?

Both yoga and Pilates are low-impact exercises that help avoid injury. Breathing is central to both of these exercise regimens, but it can be different in many different ways. In yoga, you have to do belly breathing, in which you inhale and exhale through your nose. Contrary to yoga breathing, Pilates requires 3-way breathing during the practice, ie inhaling through the nose, directing the air to the sides of the ribs, exhaling through the mouth.
Moreover, yoga has more varieties than Pilates. As discussed, popular types of yoga include hatha, vinyasa, bikram, ashtanga, iyengar, etc.
In comparison, Pilates is more ‘fast-paced’ than yoga, as the latter focuses more on mindfulness.
