A tech park in east Bengaluru has admitted trespassing on storm drains, but blamed Purvankara, the builder of the adjacent Purva Parkridge. Puravankara Purva Park Ridge has 149 villas, each with three or four bedrooms. Of these, two villas – located just across the boundary wall of the technology zone – were found to have encroached on the sewer by about 2.5 meters.
BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) Citizens Authority conducted a survey last month and discovered encroachment. However, the residents went to court, claiming the survey was conducted in their absence and denying the encroachment allegation.
Today, officials from the housing agency came to the villa for the second time and surveyed the place in the presence of residents. They discovered that Purvankara builder had illegally built villas on top of storm drains.
“Depending on the court’s decision, further action will be taken,” said executive engineer Malathi R.
Shocked residents said they would take their chance in court.
Prominent builders, developers and tech parks are on the list of alleged trespassers who closed some 700 stormwater sewers in Bengaluru – an act that led to flooding last week in areas area of the city.
NDTV, which accessed the listing, found that names included Wipro, Prestige, Eco Space, Columbia Asia Hospital and the Divyashree Mansion, next to the Bagmane Tech Park.
