Yankees manager expresses confidence in Aroldis Chapman

The New York Yankees’ painkiller Aroldis Chapman had another ugly outing Friday night, allowing two hits and three in just 0.1 of an inning. His ERA rises to 5.75 and fan frustration is starting to boil over.

Having lost his job near Clay Holmes, Chapman now finds himself just struggling to hold on. But he has at least one supporter in the club – manager Aaron Boone.

In the wake of Chapman’s latest disaster of an outing, Boone has managed to put a light positive spin on things and reckons the 34-year-old is about to explode. The staff just needed to help “pull it out” from him.

“It is obviously difficult right now for him. He’s going through a tough time and training, but from what we’ve seen over the past three weeks, it’s in there. We just had to pull it out,” Boone said, via Bryan Hoch.

“We just have to keep building some success and regain the confidence to get back to where he was the guy out there. That’s what we’re doing,” Boone added, via The Athletic.

Chapman was having a hard time turning things around quickly. Teammate Michael King broke his elbow on Friday night and will miss the rest of the season. It was a devastating blow to the team’s cowshed and put pressure on other players, Chapman included.
