There is also mention of the Leica color science used for the camera, along with the Surge C2 ISP (image signal processor) and the Surge P2 chip that supports charging – Surge is the brand Xiaomi likes to use for its own silicon. All of those are also used by Xiaomi 12 Pro, However. Finally, in a follow-up tweet, Brar says that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will have an IP rating – probably IP68, so you can expect water resistance as well.
As ever we take these claims with a pinch of salt, but nothing seems particularly unlikely here.
If these specs are correct, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is likely to have an impressive main camera, fast charging and a powerful SoC – although on the chipset front it probably won’t be any better. Samsung Galaxy S23 and lots of other 2023 flagships, as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is expected to be the main high-end Android chipset used next year.
Analysis: competition with Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus
Given that the Xiaomi 13 Pro could be in the middle of the Xiaomi 12 series – below the Xiaomi 13 Ultra – and considering these rumored specs, its main competitor will likely be the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus.
That phone will likely also feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, along with a similarly sized display, with rumors pointing to a 6.6-inch display. However, the battery could have a slightly lower capacity at 4,700mAh and charge much slower, at 25W.
The camera specs may also be less impressive on paper, with leaks suggesting they will be similar to Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus‘; including a 10MP telephoto camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. There is less news about the main camera but it could be 50MP again, albeit with a smaller sensor than the rumored Xiaomi 12 Pro.
Along with Xiaomi’s phone likely to have better specs, it could also land first, with reports suggesting it could land in November or December – at least in China. , while the Samsung Galaxy S23 series probably won’t be announced until early 2023.
However, both these phones can rank among best smartphoneso if you haven’t been tempted by any of the 2022 handsets, you’ll soon have some major new options.
