Xbox S series increase in price in India

Xbox Series S will get a second price increase in India in just six months and a third overall, just days before the reopening of pre-orders.
Media analyst Rishi Alwani posted on Twitter that Xbox Series S will increase in price to Rs 39,990, or about $485. In the US, the Series S retails for $300. Pre-orders start on January 10. The reason for the price increase is unknown at this time and could be due to low sales in India or the weakening strength of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar. According to another report from Alwani, Rockstar chose not to release Grand Theft Auto 5 Xbox Series X port in India.
Back in August 2022, Xbox Series S has received a price increase in India to 37,990 Rupees, about $462. Also in August, Sony increased the price of PS5 across markets. After that, Microsoft has released a statement stated that they currently have no plans to raise prices on the Xbox console. Obviously, this statement is not for India. In September 2022, Phil Spencer reaffirmed that Microsoft has no plans to raise console prices. However, in December 2022, Microsoft announced that they will increase the price for first party games from $60 to $70. Whether rising prices in India herald any changes in other markets is only speculation.
