Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Event (WWDC) will be live streamed at 10:30 pm IST today. The keynote is expected to include several announcements related to artificial intelligence (AI) and the new iOS 18 update. However, there are some new AI plans for Apple hardware as well as iPhone, Mac, iPad, etc., expected to be revealed at the event. Although Apple is slowing down a bit on its AI efforts, today we can see the company catching up with all the new advancements.

Apple WWDC 2024: What to expect
Notices related to AI:
At the WWDC event, Apple is expected to make several AI-focused announcements. First, we can get a brief look at how the company will partner with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT capabilities to hardware devices and how it will be useful in consumers’ daily lives. Currently, it is unclear whether Apple’s AI will run on the device or in the cloud.
Notably, we can see some AI features appearing in iOS apps that can perform features like AI summarization, translation, video and image creation, photo editing, smart replies, etc. Furthermore, Apple may announce some major AI upgrades for Siri and Safari, which could give tough competition to other tech giants like Google and Microsoft. Apple is said to be working to address privacy concerns with the help of AI to make its devices and ecosystem more secure.

Software notifications (iOS 18, MacOS 15, VisionOS 2, etc.):
Based on leaks and rumors, Apple is expected to introduce a Beta version of the iOS 18 update codenamed “Crystal”. With the new operating system, iPhone users can get a more customized version of the iOS experience that was not available in previous updates. Notably, iPhone users will be able to change the position of application icons and also change the color according to their preferences.

iOS 18 may also introduce updated versions of Control Center view, Settings app, Messages app, Passwords app, Calculator app, etc. for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Furthermore, there will be announcements related to watchOS 11, MacOS 15, VisionOS 2, etc. at the WWDC 2024 event.
However, note that WWDC may not include any hardware-related announcements such as the introduction of a new generation Apple TV.
