WV woman names her brother in attack that left her in a coma for 2 years
A West Virginia man was arrested after his sister woke up from a two-year coma and told authorities her brother had assaulted her and left her unconscious.
In June 2020, Wanda Palmer was found unconscious at her home in Ravenswood, West Virginia, about 40 miles north of Charleston, “with a serious head injury”. according to WCHS.
Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger tell WCHS on Friday, he “wouldn’t bet a nickel” on Palmer’s life after she was found by neighbors. “The large number of head injuries, consistent with some sort of machete or scalpel injury,” says Mellinger.
With life-threatening injuries, Palmer was admitted to a nursing home and comatose for the past two years. Investigators worked to find any clues or suspects to Palmer’s condition, but none were found.

When asked about what happened, she said her brother, Daniel Palmer, attacked her.
“The key to the whole thing was in the victim herself and with her being unable to communicate, we had nothing. Now low and seeing two years later and exploding, she’s sober and able to. tell us exactly what happened”, Mellinger told West Virginia Metro News.
The Minister of Police said they arrested Daniel Palmer on Friday. He is being charged with attempted murder and malicious injury, as authorities believe he used a weapon to the head to beat his sister to death.
According to WCHS, his bond is set for $500,000.
