Obviously there is a World record for the world’s fastest wheel change on a moving car and it was set up earlier this year in Italy.
Manuel Zoldan and Gianluca Folco set a record 1: 17.64 in February, and a video was recently posted to the Guinness World Records YouTube channel showing how crazy they were doing it.
One person was driving, flipping the vehicle (a BMW 3 Series E46 sedan) onto two wheels. The other man crawled out the front passenger’s side window and onto the hood to change wheels. The car’s exterior clamp holds the spare wheel until it’s ready to be put in place, and the wheels used for swapping are smaller, lighter donut spares. To add flair, the duo performed stunts in costumes inspired by Evel Knievel.
Just keeping the 3-Series upright seemed tough enough, let alone hanging the nuts while it was driving around on two wheels in the air. However, Zoldan and Folco weren’t the first to try this; they had to beat the previous record of 1:30.
This is not the only wheel change record either. In case you’re wondering, the log for fastest time to change all four wheels in a stationary car is 49.03 seconds and is set by a garage in Vienna in October 2021. Race cars and teams are presumably excluded from this record, as Formula one teams Regularly change four tires within 10 seconds.
There is also a Guinness World Record for the fastest wheel change on a spinning car. At 3:10, the record has stood since 2010. We’d love to see a video of that.
