Brazil head coach Tite says the large number of fouls against Neymar “must be stopped” after the striker sustained an injury during the group stage win over Serbia.

Neymar appeared to be in tears on the bench after being substituted in the 80th minute for a sprained ankle.

The 30-year-old received a rough tackle from Nikola Milenkovic during the match. win 2-0 on Thursday.

“If you want to celebrate football, you have to pay attention to the fouls,” said Tite.

“They focus on specific players. This is the effect. This has to be stopped.”

Since the first World Cup in 2014, Neymar has been fouled 53 times during the tournament, at least 11 more times than any other player.

He was fouled nine times against Serbia, more than any other player in their opening match in Qatar.

Neymar will not play in Brazil’s remaining group stage games, but Tite said he remains confident the Paris St-Germain forward will feature in the World Cup again.

“I believe that Neymar and [injured defender] Danilo will play in the World Cup. I’m not in a position to talk about [medical information]”, said Tieu.

“I can say that, not only about Neymar, but also about Danilo, the situation of both has improved, but we believe both will be ready to play at the World Cup.”

TEAM NEWS

Brazil remains without Juventus defender Danilo, who also injured his ankle against Serbia, as well as Paris St-Germain forward Neymar.

Swiss striker Renato Steffen remains in doubt with a muscle injury.

FORECAST OF CHRIS SUTTON

Switzerland will be delighted with a win over Cameroon, but they are a pretty average team.

I think their attacking speed means that they will cause Brazil more problems than Serbia, and they can concede goals here.

It took Brazil some time to get past Serbia but they finally showed some of their attacking prowess, and it will be a similar story here.

Sutton’s prediction: 2-1
