England held on to their World Cup title as they beat India by four goals following a captaincy performance from Heather Knight half a centurion and an earlier brilliant performance by Charlie Dean with the ball.
Winning the pitch, England challenged opponents to set a target for them before knocking them out just 135 behind Dean’s 4-23.
Nat Sciver then led the club attack with a 45-shot before captain Knight appeared in pursuit with an undefeated 53 of 72 serves.
England went into the match with three consecutive defeats, knowing they needed to win each of their last four to progress to the semi-finals.
The 2017 champions will face the New Zealand Women’s Women on Saturday, followed by Pakistan and Bangladesh the following week.
