Wolfenstein: The New Order is now kept for free

Wolfenstein: The New Order rebooted the classic FPS series in 2014, turning it into a sometimes extremely violent, incoherent stealth game about Nazi robo-slaying in an alternate 1960s. It was great. It’s also free to keep if you get it from the Epic Games Store right now.

If you already own and have played Wolfenstein: The New Order, please enjoy this great video from Marsh Davies’ Fail Forward series instead:

If you’ve always wanted to join The New Order but never did, there are 19 hours left to go to Epic Games Store and add it to your account. As long as you do it within the time limit, the game will be yours forever.

Epic is giving away Wolfenstein as part of their 15 days of free play, offered in conjunction with their winter sale. Other free games they have given away so far include Bloons TD 6, Costume quest 2 and Black. The next freebie will be revealed as soon as the Wolfenstein giveaway ends tomorrow at 4pm GMT/8am Pacific Time.

I think Alec summed it up The New Order’s appeal is pretty good in his review:

I think it works because, for all the quirks of being both a dumb ass game and a Feel The Feels game, can we have a prize right now, please game, Wolfenstein: The new sequel knows itself very well. It borrows from BioShock and it borrows from Half-Life 2 (to put it mildly), but I don’t believe it really has the ambition to be the expensive B-movie With A Heart. Oddly enough, there’s an honesty to it – it’s not like BioShock Infinite, where flowery talk sits uncomfortably next to meaty mayhem. Yes, this is totally taking itself and its Nazi magic cyborg, but that’s not the same as believing itself to be the capital-I Important.

If that sounds like your thing, Get it now.
