Will use tech to stay 10 steps ahead of crime world: PM Modi at Chintan Shivir with home ministers | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at Chintan Shivir with interior ministers from the states via videoconference on Friday morning.
He emphasized the need for coordination between the states and the Center, and the adoption of emerging technologies to fight crime.
The two-day Chintan Shivir is being held in Surajkund, Haryana with the interior secretaries and chief police officers (DGP) of the states and the directors of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs).
Shivir is looking at issues such as modernizing the police force, managing cybercrime, increasing the use of IT in the criminal justice system, land border management, coastal security, secondary safety. women and drug trafficking.
Trade Union Interior Minister Amit Shah also spoke at the meeting. Here are the key takeaways from PM Mod and Amit Shah’s keynote at the meetup:

  1. Chintan Shivir of these interior ministers is a great example of cooperative federalism. Nations can learn from each other, draw inspiration from each other, and work together to improve the country – this is the sentiment of the Constitution and our obligation to our citizens: PM

  3. The next 25 years will be devoted to the creation of ‘amrit peedhi’. This ‘Amrit peedhi’ will be created by instilling the resolutions of ‘Panch Pran’ – creating a developed India, free from all colonial thinking, proud of heritage, united and vital especially civic duty: Prime Minister Modi
  4. Law and order are not limited to one state now. Crime is turning between states and internationally. With technology, criminals now have the power to commit crimes in the states. Criminals across borders are abusing technology. Coordination between agencies of all states & between central and state agencies needed: PM
  5. Whether it’s cybercrime or the use of drone technology to smuggle weapons or drugs, we’ll have to keep working on new technology for them: PM
  6. We have entered the 5G era. 5G has a number of benefits, the same should be realized. With 5G, there will be many improvements in facial recognition technology, automatic license plate recognition technology, drones and CCTV technology. We will have to be 10 steps ahead of the criminal world: PM

  8. During these two days, Ministry of Home Affairs along with CM, LG and state governors, are discussing law and order & homeland security of the country: Interior Minister Amit Shah
  9. Many crimes are happening from across the border such as terrorism, drug smuggling, money laundering, infiltration; Drones used to smuggle weapons and drugs: Union Interior Minister Amit Shah
  10. As long as there is no equal response from the police and central authorities on these issues and if all states do not cooperate to combat these problems it will not be possible to face them: Amit Shah
