Will conduct 6 test launches before manned mission, building some Gaganyaan systems in-house to cut cost: Isro chief

isro will conduct six test missions, including three this year, ahead of its final manned mission. gaganyaan in 2024 involves three astronauts because the space agency “doesn’t want any chance with human life,” Isro president S Somanath said on Wednesday.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the Conference Indian Science Congress, the head of Isro said that out of a total of six test missions, four will be canceled and two unfinished. “Two aborted missions and one unfinished mission will be underway this year in April-May. The remaining three will be conducted next year. And if all goes well, the final crewed mission will be launched next year,” he said.
Pointing out that human spaceflight does not develop overnight and that it has taken countries decades to acquire those technologies, he said: “We are trying to do it. mission in the shortest possible time is 4 years. Although the launch mission was originally scheduled for 2022, it was delayed for a number of reasons. Before that, we thought about buying some mission technology such as environmental control and life support for astronauts from abroad. But they are coming at an exorbitant price. So now we are building such systems in-house. So it is taking time.
Regarding Chandrayaan-3, Isro president said, “The satellite is in a fully integrated state. The lander and rover are ready. The lunar mission cannot be launched any day. We are waiting for the best launch window. So the next window is in June-July. GSLV-MkIII will be used for the mission.” He said, “The landing mission is more or less the same as Chandrayaan-2 but this time our goal is to safely land the lander and rover. Therefore, we have made certain changes to the engine system, the software and also added new sensors.”
He said Small .’s second development flight Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) will probably be held next month. If the launch is successful, the SSLV, which can carry a payload of up to 500kg, will be able to establish itself as a small launcher in the global market. firstly SSLV launch failed on August 7 of last year.
During the Venus mission, Somanath “A committee is currently sifting through all the research literature to determine the scientific goals for the mission. We’ve also been shortlisted for labs and organizations that will make the tools. Once they are finalized, we will ask the government for funding.” Isro is concurrently on a second Mars mission.
