Will Canelo Alvarez beat Gennadiy Golovkin without question?

Via Robert Segal: Canelo Alvarez disagrees with everyone about the first two matches, with Gennadiy Golovkin controversial. Canelo feels that he has clearly won both and he thinks he did well in the first match.

Interestingly, Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) believes he played well in his first match against Golovkin in 2017 as many boxing fans would disagree with him.

What matters now is that Canelo finds a way to win a three-part match against Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) without controversy this Saturday night, September 17th because he benefit from scoring a third time, that would damage his legacy.

What Canelo gives him to show that he will win with certainty is Golovkin’s age and his recent performances.

Golovkin is now 40 years old, he has shown and shown his age in matches against Ryota Murata and Sergiy Derevyanchenko.

“I just want to hear the opening bell. I died to come out and fight. To beat him, and to show that I am better than him,” Canelo Alvarez told DAZN’s Making of a Trilogy about his second clash with Gennadiy Golovkin.

“I am not satisfied with the results of the draw they gave. We want the rematch to clear all doubts,” said Canelo. “I told Eddy [Reynoso]’I will win this war, no matter what.’

“We obviously want that rematch because I’m not happy with the draw they awarded.”

Todd Grisham said: “Most people who watched the first game thought GGG won, and that didn’t sit well with Canelo. “GGG is, ‘Bring me Canelo. I want Canelo. ‘

“So people think Saul Alvarez is dodging Golovkin, and you can’t blame him because he’s a knockout machine. I think a lot of people think Canelo joined the fight against GGG because he had to, not because he wanted to,” Grisham said.

“That never crossed my mind. I knew I played really well in that match,” Canelo said of the first match against Golovkin. “We want the rematch to clear all doubts.”

“We see a lot of rematches in boxing, but we don’t see the fighters fundamentally change the way they fight. That’s what Canelo did,” said Chris Mannix.

Eddie Hearn said: “The two GGG matches were the biggest fights the sport has ever seen. “Two absolute wars, for epic.”
