Wiesmann Project Thunderball could be the company’s first electric car

Wiesmann revealed details about sport car – codenamed ‘Project Thunderball’.

The new images show many similarities to previous Wiesmann cars, such as the long bonnet, the retractable soft top at the rear and the rounded grille reminiscent of a Jaguar XK120’s. There are also circular taillights that protrude from the bodywork and wing vents – suggesting some form of internal combustion engine under the bonnet.

That’s where this new Weismann may differ the most from the German company’s back catalog. Weismann has a history of favoring magnetic motors By BMW M cars, with six in line of the E36 M3 used in the MF30 and even M5 support V10 shares its powertrain with the GT MF5.

The company’s new owner and CEO, Roheen Berry, hinted at the car’s electrification by saying “as the auto industry goes through its biggest revolution in a century, there is no What better time to announce the return of a refreshed, reborn and recharged car icon. ”

Options for the BMW hybrid engine are still mild with an option likely coming from the straight six petrol plug-in hybrid from X5 xDrive45e. The The next BMW M5 will get a V8 hybrid but that won’t come before Project Thunderball is released.

Project Thunderball will be built at the company’s ‘Gecko’ factory with Project Gecko – another classic sports car that is said to use a BMW-sourced 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8.
