Via Charles Brun: Dillian Whyte did not buy “garbage” Tyson Fury spoke to the media this week about his retirement after their match this Saturday night at Wembley Stadium in London.
Whyte (28-2, 19 KO) says the media is “his up a**,” believes everything Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) says without question, and he’s not convinced.
Sure, Fury has garnered a lot of attention this week with his talk of retirement, and if this is just a hoax to get more boxing fans to buy his fights If it’s on a pay-per-view basis, it can be successful.
Dillian said he wouldn’t be surprised if Fury asked for a rematch after their fight, which could happen if he starved to death.
Fury’s pride will make him even better, and he’ll want to try to avenge the loss in an immediate rematch.
Whyte picks Fury for a second fight will depend on the currency that could make the fight for the winner of the July rematch between Anthony Joshua & Oleksandr Usyk.
Whyte is skeptical about Fury’s retirement
“I like it when the odds are against me when everyone is against me because that gives me that little extra edge,” said Dillian Whyte. Behind the gloves about how he prefers to be the underdog against Tyson Fury.
“I said that Tyson Fury talks trash“So let’s see,” Whyte said when asked if he believed Fury’s claims that he would retire after that.
“He would say it, but the next day, ‘Ah, I want to fight Dillian Whyte again.’ I don’t know, he said a lot of things. You all seem to elevate him in what he does and what he says. I don’t care,” Whyte said of the media reporting what Fury said.
“When I came here [Wembley Stadium], I would gladly put it all in,” said Whyte. “Tyson Fury said a lot of things. If he’s heavier or lighter, I don’t care.
“I watched ten seconds of the workout in the media because it didn’t make any sense. We will fight. If he comes in heavy and wants to trade, that’s better for me,” said Dillian.
“If he wants to box & move, I can do that. I don’t depend on doing one thing. My key in this fight has been to adapt and recognize the mental cues & decisions for immediate change.
“It is one of those battles where I will need to use my brain a lot. Maybe my strength is not so much, but maybe more than my brain, and then the power will come at some point,” said Dillian.
It would be in Whyte’s favor if Fury chose to try and iron him the way he did in the last two fights against Deontay Wilder. That style would suit Dillian very well, making it easy for him to bring him to the canvas in a pile.
