Why No Arrest For BJP MLA After Cash Haul?

'Why is BJP MLA not arrested after cashing out?' Arvind Kejriwal Teasing the Prime Minister

Arvind Kejriwal ended the note with another scathing line for Prime Minister Modi.

New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a stinging note addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter today. Subject of note: bail for BJP MLA in an alleged bribery case.

Citing the example of Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, who was released on bail earlier today in an alleged bribery case, Mr. Kejriwal questioned why he was not arrested while Manish Sisodia was there.

“Nothing was found in the raid on Manish Sisodia’s home. He was arrested after applying all parts of the CBI, ED (Department of Enforcement). A lot of cash was found from the party’s MLA. Why wasn’t he arrested?” AAP boss asked a question.

He ended the letter with another scathing line: “Now don’t ever talk about fighting corruption. It’s a bit of wealth that comes from you.”

In an alleged contract cash scandal, Lokayukta recovered more than Rs 8 billion from MLA’s son V Prashanth Madal last week. Lokayukta has registered a case in the alleged bribery case, in which Mr. Virupakshappa is considered the number one defendant.

Earlier on Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal criticized the BJP over the Lokayukta raid, saying the MLA’s son could be honored with “Padma Bhushan”.

“The Minister’s son was found with Rs 8 million but Manish Sisodia has been arrested and he is not. They may award him, Padma Bhushan, next year,” Mr. Kejriwal said while giving a speech. before a gathering in Karnataka, where there are many opinion polls.

Former Delhi Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia was placed in judicial custody for 14 days on Monday, ten days after he was arrested by the CBI in the Delhi alcohol policy case.

AAP senior leadership facing corruption charges over alcohol policy was dropped after Delhi Governor Lt VK Saxena asked CBI to launch an investigation. He resigned from the Delhi cabinet two days after his arrest.

He has applied for bail and will be heard by a Delhi court on Friday. He had previously gone to the High Court to be released on bail but the court refused to intervene and asked him to go to the High Court.
