Why I’m Not Worried About Marvel’s Reported Phase 5 Release Date Changes
It may be a new year, but old problems seem to be disrupting Marvel’s release plans.
After reboot its upcoming Blade movie is affected by production problems by the end of 2022, Marvel is facing a lot of headaches about the Phase 5 release date. According to industry insiders, many projects are in development for the studio. Disney Plus programs are likely to be delayed, with one even pushed back to 2025.
Even so, I’m not worried about the potential Marvel phase 5 release delay. Before I explain my lack of interest, let’s take a look at the rumors mentioned.
On January 7, We can get some toast (opens in a new tab) – a trusted Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) leaker – stated “What if…? season 2 has been pushed to 2024. The animated series is expected to be the first MCU TV show to be released this year, so the delayed release suggests it has a cycle problem development.
With other MCU animation shows Reports face release delays or even complete cancellations, such as Spider-Man: Freshman Year, What If…? Season 2’s potential problems won’t come as a surprise to some.
The operator of Marvel Studios Reddit Spoilers page (opens in a new tab) have also heard that the Echo could launch in 2024. That seems to line up with comments attributed to Echo host Marion Dayre, who said Writers Council podcast (opens in a new tab) (December 2022) that Echo will come out “probably a year since this movie [the podcast] debut.” MCU insider Charles Murphy (opens in a new tab) similarly heard of an early 2024 release for the Echo, albeit Disney internal magazine D23 (opens in a new tab) hints that the Echo is still on track to launch in 2023.
In other places, WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos is rumored to come out in 2025. The sequel to one of the The best Disney Plus show is expected to be released in 2024, with filming apparently starting in February 2023.
But that’s not all bad news on the Marvel TV front. We can get some toast (opens in a new tab) also announced that Secret Invasion, one of Marvel’s 2023 TV shows, will premiere on Disney’s streaming channel in May. Meanwhile, Loki season 2 – the sequel to the most popular MCU TV show to date – and Ironheart, the TV sequel Black Panther: Wakanda forever will also come sometime this year. Added to Marvel’s 2023 movies list, including Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaand there’s a lot to get MCU fans excited about.
However, the upcoming releases aren’t the main reason I’m not concerned about another potential Phase 5 launch delay. And that’s the MCU’s previous series and shows – Phase 4 of the MCU – that holds the key as to why.
In short, Phase 4 is a mixed bag for Marvel fans. As we noted in Marvel’s Phase 4 Ranked article, there have been as many mistakes as there have been successes for Marvel over the past two years.
Sure, it’s exciting to see Marvel experiment with its tried-and-tested formula. and pause the trend of connecting with each other in his recent projects. However, some of the production feels rushed, makes storytelling mistakes and – in rare cases – feels redundant in the context of the MCU.
Do we really need a fourth Thor movie – Thor: Love and Thunder — rereading the same comedy-based platform as Thor: Ragnarok, its superior predecessor? What about the early MCU TV shows, whose quality varies from project to project and, in some cases, from episode to episode?
In my opinion, Marvel’s box office success is built on sound judgment, methodical judgment in all aspects of its production, and the smooth pacing of its content release. Prior to Phase 4, three films per year – up to four – was enough to satisfy the MCU’s global fan base. Add in various shows and studio TV specials, and suddenly the superhero market (especially from the MCU’s point of view) is beyond imagination.
Some will be disappointed by this supposed release date delay, so it would be a relief if Marvel confirmed that they pushed Echo, What If…? season 2 and Agatha: Coven of Chaos return a year. Doing so gives Marvel more time to make them the best they can be, while also clearing up the Phase 5 and Phase 6 vehicles, and showing that they’re learning from the mistakes they’ve made. before.
Three movies and three TV shows are more than enough MCU content to enjoy in 2023 – and I’m sure many like-minded fans will agree. So please, Marvel, if you need to delay some shows this year, don’t feel bad about it. start making best superhero movie and TV series again, and you won’t hear us complain.
