Everyone will talk about Naomi Ackie30, after they see I want to dance with someone. The Whitney Houston biopic starring Naomi in her first movie lead role, which is hard to believe. Naomi sings some of the late singer’s greatest songs including “I will always love you” in the film. Fans may not be familiar with Naomi, but that’s sure to change once the biopic hits theaters on December 23. Here’s everything you need to know about Naomi.
Naomi is British.
Naomi was born and raised in Walthamstow, London. She is the daughter of second generation immigrants from Grenada. Naomi’s father works in the transportation industry and her mother works in healthcare. She is the youngest of three children.
“I was a really nervous kid,” Naomi said in an interview with Elle. “And my teenage years were also very awkward. Now when I look back on those years, I realize that a lot of things happened.” After school, she studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama before breaking into Lady Macbeth.
She started acting at the age of 11.
Naomi fell in love with acting at school when she was 11 years old. She played the angel Gabriel in the school play Nativity. She continued her acting studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Naomi’s big break came from the 2016 movie Lady Macbethmain character Florence Pugh. For her performance, Naomi won the British Independent Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
She was in a movie ‘Star Wars’.
Star Wars fans were introduced to Naomi in 2019 Rise of Skywalker, the final part of the sequel trilogy. Naomi plays Hannah, a former Stormtrooper who switches sides to help the Resistance. Naomi explains that her portrayal of a Black woman in a Star Wars The film was well received by fans.
“I know that what I’ve been through so far has come from love, support, excitement and joy, and I don’t think that’s going to go away,” she said. Elle in 2019.
She’s almost been in the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel.
Naomi Is Reportedly Starring In HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series set 10,000 years before the events of the series. The full cast, including the main star Naomi wattsfilmed the pilot episode, before HBO scrapped the entire series in October 2019.

Naomi delved into Whitney’s life while preparing for I want to dance with someonediscover Whitney’s ups and downs before her death. “There’s an interview—it’s pretty long, maybe three parts on YouTube. She does this with her hands a lot. And that was the first thing I practiced,” said Naomi AV Club. “Those little things are something that I would stick to and practice, actually practice all day alone as a weird actor in her own apartment, just a lot. It all comes together to create a space where I feel I can capture some of the essence of Whitney,” she added.
