Ben Feigin passed away on Monday, October 24. The producer is 47 years old and is battling pancreatic cancer. His death was confirmed by the United Talent Agency, where his wife worked and he was a former employee, according to Diversity. Ben is an essential part of the much-loved comedy series Schitt’s Creek and is essential in many different modern classics. Learn more about Ben here.

1. Ben is a producer on all Schitt’s Creek movies.

While Dan and Eugene Levy are the creators Schitt’s Creek, Ben was essential throughout the show’s six seasons. He was an executive producer for all 80 episodes. Some of the producer’s biggest contributions include the financial development and licensing of the show and being the head of projects like the series’ farewell documentary.

2. He also produced a series of comedy specials.

Ben has worked on a variety of television shows throughout his career, working for William Morris and UTA, some of his other credits include being a producer on television specials. Distinctive of the comic as the end Ralphie May, Lavell Crawford, Carlos Oscar, and Cheech and Chong. He also produces documentaries focusing on rap music, including From Scratch: The Birth of Hip Hop and short Rakim’s words, every IMDb.

3. He won an Emmy for ‘Schitt’s Creek.’

For his work on Schitt’s Creek, Ben has been nominated for Emmy Awards in 2019 and 2020. He won alongside Levys and his fellow producers in 2020 for Outstanding Comedy Series, for the show’s previous season. He has also won four Canadian Screen Awards and a Producers Guild Award for the show.

4. Ben has been involved in a number of different projects throughout his career.

Besides producing, Ben also founded the company Equation Unlimited. His biological on the website lists some of his other “eclectic efforts” including “facilitating the creative arts committee” for the then-President Barack Obama. He also helped bring an exhibition of musical instruments to the Grammy Museum and worked behind the scenes on a major exhibition on the Chicano Art Movement, which led to the works being displayed on around the world.

In addition, he is also a teacher at UCLA, NYU, and UC Santa Barbara, and he has worked closely with a number of charities, including Stand Up To Cancer, which his family has requested. Donations are sent in his honor.

5. He is married and has a daughter.

Ben’s obituary notes that he was survived by his wife Heidi Feigin, and they have an 11 year old daughter together Ellie.
