Which Comedian Will Support Big Pharma (Now)?

John Oliver performed a spectacular takedown of Big Pharma… in 2015.

The “Last Week Tonight” segment shows Oliver criticizing pharmaceutical companies for what he considers inferior ethical tactics.

“Pharmaceutical companies are like high school boyfriends… They care more about getting inside you than being effective when they’re there.”

Stephen Colbert took it from him own swing at Big Pharma three years later.

“There are some really difficult topics to talk about like the opioid crisis. It’s an epidemic that affects political parties, Republicans, Democrats, rich and poor, it doesn’t discriminate… And a lot of people blame Big Pharma, but only because it’s their fault. surname.”

Big Pharma had a big and fat goal for a while.

That was then. Now, with Pfizer’s tactics being criticized by the alternative media, this is the perfect time for Oliver and Colbert, among others, to make satirical moves against the large company.

Just imagine a “Saturday Night Live” sketch that governs this exchange alone.

That video quickly generated millions of views on YouTube (before deleting it), Twitter and elsewhere. Even as the mainstream media went to great lengths to ignore or downplay the shocking confessions of the Pfizer executive (which he later denied were lies), many Americans have know about it through social networks and brave news. stores like The Daily Mail.

Except we didn’t see any jokes on the subject from the usual suspects.

Late-night libertarians have shunned the Project Veritas video and its subsequent headlines from the right-wing media. Nor do they question recent revelations that the COVID-19 vaccine is not working as advertised.

Vaccines do not prevent people from getting the virus or spreading it. We’ve known it for months, but the Late Night Jimmys don’t think it’s worth dealing with. Obviously, talking about “truth to power” has its defense rails.

They would rather sing songs about wear a mask at home … while not wearing an actual mask in the house.

Not that late-night comics ignore Pfizer’s work.

Viewers were mesmerized by the pro-vaccine sketches, dances and musical repertoire in the late-night setting. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Says Unvaccinated Americans do not deserve medical treatment if they have a viral illness.

Former shock athlete Howard Stern said the same, but in a more angry tone.

Colbert went a few steps further.

Some comedians might actually be afraid of being canceled when they join Big Pharma. YouTube chastised Project Veritas for a recent incident in which the CEO of Pfizer admitted the company does “gain-to-function” research on viruses like COVID-19.

Big Tech regularly censors jokes it finds “problem” or more specifically, hitting targets that are inconvenient for popular everyday stories.

Kimmel et al. can also get feedback from their company leaders if Big Pharma’s cash is part of their revenue stream.

Or are these comics simply tribal, claiming that anything tied to vaccines is pro-liberal, anti-conservative, and that they’re afraid to embrace the other side if it’s just for a sketch or a prank?
