WhatsApp testing new camera mode for Android devices

WhatsApp recently released a new camera shortcut for beta users on both Android and iOS, as it was replaced by community tabs in the previous beta. The Meta-owned direct messaging platform is currently testing a new camera mode (with version 2.22.21.8) for Android users only, WABetaInfo reports. This new camera mode is expected to allow users to experiment with different modes such as photos and videos.
How will this new camera mode work
According to the report, WhatsApp is developing two more buttons for the camera mode on the messaging app. Currently, users have to click the shutter button to take a photo and press and hold the same button for video. The way WhatsApp users click on photos and videos right now will completely change if the feature comes out of beta.
WhatsApp is testing two different buttons for photo and video modes that will allow users to swap between these modes. This feature is still under development and won’t be released to all users for a while.
New WhatsApp beta update also fixes a bug
This new beta update also fixes a bug that made it difficult for some users to scroll through chats. Previous versions of WhatsApp showed some users’ old messages as they scrolled through a chat.
More new features coming to WhatsApp
In addition, WhatsApp has also added a number of other features to the beta version of the app. The company recently added cross-device support to Android tablets with a previous beta update. WhatsApp also announced Call Link feature (like Launch and Google Meet) will allow users to easily initiate or join calls.
