WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will bring tweaks to the app’s user interface on iOS and show members’ profile pictures in group chats. This feature is said to be in development and has yet to be released. The news comes a few days after it was reported that WhatsApp for iOS may have a feature that allows users to view status updates in the chat list. This feature has been rolled out to WhatsApp for Android beta testers.
Follow a post by WABetainfo, an experimental platform WhatsApp features before it’s rolled out to the masses, WhatsApp for iOS will soon be getting a feature for testing that will show their profile pictures of participants in group chats. The profile picture will be displayed next to the messages you’ve sent in that group (see main photo). Currently, WhatsApp only shows the names of group participants next to their messages.
The platform says WhatsApp has submitted a new update through the TestFlight Beta Program, which brings the WhatsApp beta to iOS version 22.18.0.72. It also says that there is no way to turn the feature off “as it will always be on by default for all group participants and there is no switch for it.” As mentioned, the feature is under development so there is no word on when it will be available to regular users.
Development comes a few days later a report said that WhatsApp will be releasing a feature to its iOS beta testers, allowing them to see status updates in the chat list. The user can click on the visible photo of a contact in the chat list to see the status update, and it can be disabled by muting all status updates.
It was also report that WhatsApp can bring an undo message delete feature that allows users to recover accidentally deleted messages in a chat. According to reports, they will receive a quick bar at the bottom of the screen once the message is deleted with a Delete for me option which can be used to give users the option to recover deleted messages for a while certain.
