WhatsApp is working on new feature that will allow Beta testers on Android Flag Status Update: Report
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, is said to be developing a new reporting status update feature for Android beta. This will allow users to report any unwanted status updates that violate the company’s Terms of Service on their Android phones. The Meta-owned messaging service is also testing the feature for future desktop app updates. The new feature will not interfere with end-to-end encryption on status updates. The app now has the ability to report suspicious or spam messages to the company.
According to one report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new feature for a future Android beta that will allow users to report suspicious or malicious status updates that appear to violate their policies. Terms of Service. The report states that reported status updates will be forwarded to the company for moderation. There will be a new ‘report’ option for status updates in the status section. The user can simply click that to flag an unwanted status update.
Notably, reported status updates will remain end-to-end encrypted, similar to messages, voice calls, media, and location sharing, the report said. E2EE protected content cannot be accessed by any third parties, not even WhatsApp or Meta. The ability to report status update feature for WhatsApp Android beta is currently under development and there is no confirmation on official rollout yet.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also testing the same feature for its desktop beta app. Last month, the app was report is working on a new feature that will allow users to report any suspicious status updates on a PC or laptop using a desktop app. Once reported, status updates will be forwarded to WhatsApp for the same moderation reasons as reported messages. The content on status updates reported on the desktop will also be end-to-end encrypted and, therefore, will not be accessible by any third parties.
The reporting status update feature for the desktop beta is also under development and is expected to be released in a future update. The app is also expected to roll out the same feature to WhatsApp beta for iOS in the future.
