WhatsApp for iOS May have an option to view messages by date: Report

WhatsApp is said to be working on an upgraded search feature that will allow users to see messages sent on a specific date. This functionality is being tested on WhatsApp for iOS. This feature is said to be under development and has yet to be released. It has yet to be released to beta testers, according to a report. The news comes a few days after it was reported that WhatsApp for iOS encountered an error after updating. The bug was automatically changing the mute duration from “1 week” to “8 hours”.

According to a parcel by WABetainfo, an experimental platform WhatsApp beta builds for features before they are released to users, WhatsApp for iOS may soon have a new Search by Date feature that allows users to search for messages of a specific date. This means you will be able to filter out the results by date. Currently, WhatsApp shows some results after you enter a name or number in the search box.

Are known, This feature was developed two years ago but plans to roll it out to the masses have been shelved. The folks at WABetainfo say that they discovered the feature after the WhatsApp beta update for iOS 22.0.19.73 from TestFlight was released. The platform says WhatsApp has sent out the new update through the TestFlight Beta Program, which brings the WhatsApp beta to iOS version 22.19.0.73.

WABetaInfo has shared a couple of screenshots suggesting the Calendar icon placed just above the keyboard. To use the option to search for messages of a specific date, one needs to tap on the Calendar icon on WhatsApp for iPhone. A single tap will open the calendar icon and a date picker will appear to select any month, day and year. As mentioned, the feature is still under development in this build and it will roll out to beta testers in the future.

The development comes two days after WhatsApp for iOS users ran into issues after updating their app to version 2.22.18.76. It was report that a WhatsApp bug had automatically changed the mute duration from ‘1 week’ to ‘8 hours’. However, there is no problem when the user chooses two other durations to mute the conversation: ‘8 hours’ and ‘Always’.
