WhatsApp on Monday announced that it will be rolling out Call Links, a new feature designed to let users initiate a new call or join an ongoing call. ‘Call Link’ option will be added in Call and users can generate links for audio or video calls that can easily be shared on other platforms. The Meta-owned messaging service says the feature will roll out later this week, but users will have to make sure they’re running the latest version of the app. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has also announced that it will soon begin testing group video calls for up to 32 participants on the messaging app.
In one parcel on the social networking platform Facebook, Zuckerberg announced that WhatsApp is rolling out a Call Link feature that allows users to create a link and share it with friends and family on the instant messaging app. They can click the link and join and join the call with a single tap – just like the links for Google Meet or Microsoft Teams calls across platforms.
While Meta-the company that owns it apparently didn’t mention which platforms will support this feature, mentioning Call tab suggests that it will be available on at least Android and iOS.
To create a link to the call, users can tap Create call link option in Call Press tab and create link for audio or video call and share it with family and friends. It should be noted that the rollout will begin this week and you must have the latest version of the app to create the link.
Meanwhile, the company has also announced that it has begun testing group video calls for up to 32 participants on WhatsApp. Details about the feature will be shared by us shortly.
