What other sports teams need their own series?

Showtime Lakers is one of the most iconic sports franchises of all time. So much so that they got to watch their own HBO show in “Victory Time”. While Magic Johnson, Pat Riley, and the rest certainly deserve their own series, they’re not the only team (James) that deserves that honor. Here are some other teams we’d love to see a series of. Not only franchises, but also eras.

During the 1970s, Cincinnati Reds was an unstoppable baseball machine, culminating in consecutive World Series wins in 1975 and 1976. Some of the Reds of that era included Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench, and manager Sparky. Anderson. Oh, and Pete Rose, certainly a famous, infamous figure in baseball.

When Wayne Gretzky has been traded since Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings, it changed the hockey world. Suddenly, the kings became the trendy team in the NHL. While “The Great One” was King until the 1996 trade deadline, we’ll likely end the series after the 1992-93 Stanley Cup Final, where the Kings lost to Canada.

Rangers haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1940. It was the longest drought in the NHL by a wide margin. For a big city like New York, that’s huge. Mark Messier guarantee a win. They got it, and they ended up lifting the Cup that season, ending the drought.

Of course, it starts with “Decision”. That would make for a pretty good series premiere. LeBron and Chris Bosh brought their talents to South Beach to collaborate with Dwyane Wade. It was controversial, to say the least. However, the show will have a happy ending after many twists and turns: LeBron returns to his hometown of Cleveland.

In the 2001 season, Bill Belichick and brave cat won their first Super Bowl. In 2007, the Patriots went undefeated going into the Super Bowl, where they were upset because Giants in New York. In between, they won two more Super Bowls. Yeah, that would make a lot of sense for the series.

Dallas Cowboys of the 1990s

How ’bout they Cowboys? In the 1990s, they were the American team. Jerry Jones Will make pretty character, like will Michael Irvin. Of course, we can’t forget Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith, who were key to both the team’s and the Super Bowls’ success.

The breaking team is very happy. What about the curse breaking teams? That’s what the 2004 Boston Red Sox did. A team with some colorful (and controversial) characters, this could be a one-season show. However, it will have a climax.

Chicago Cubs 2016

The 2016 Cubs may not be as colorful as the Red Sox, but they break a World Series drought that has lasted more than a century. You can do a lot of flashbacks along the way. Throw a little Steve Bartman into the mix? That will spice things up.

The USC Trojans of Pete Carroll

Carroll coached the Trojan team from 2001 to 2009. The Rams were not in Los Angeles at the time, so USC was essentially the city’s football team. They won two titles in a row and then lost perhaps the best college football game ever to the Texas Longhorns. Carroll also has a lot of personality. He would make a good main character.

Age of Satchel Paige Monarchy of Kansas City

The Kansas City Monarchs were the initiators of the Black Leagues. Paige, widely regarded as one of the best pitchers ever, was with the team from 1940 to 1947. They won four league championships and one World Series title during that period. that time. Paige was not the only notable name of the time. Buck O’Neill was there too, and Jackie Robinson also spent a season with the team.

Sure, Argentina won the 1986 World Cup. That’s great. They had Diego Maradona Stay in the team. That’s why we wanted to see this series. It can be difficult to capture Maradona’s magic on the pitch, but his personality would make for a great TV character.

1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This could be more like a comedy. The Buccaneers were an expanded team in 1976. They were inconclusive, and most games had no special results. These Bucs are probably the worst NFL team ever. That can make for a funny show.

The Cleveland Barons

It’s okay if you don’t miss the Baron. That’s a good reason. The California Golden Seals moved from Oakland to play in Cleveland as Baron. They only lasted two seasons before folding. Not moving, but folding. Barons is the last franchise of one of the four major American sports leagues to cease operations. That would make for a compelling story, even if the name is unknown.

The Washington Witches of Jordan

“The Last Dance” gave us all the Bulls Jordan we needed. Spend some time with Jordan and the Wizards! There’s some “Lion in Winter” content here, with Jordan’s game slipping. He fought with Kwame Brown and generally the highly competitive maniac that MJ is known for. Honestly, this makes for a better dramatic story than the Bulls.

The Fab Five changed college basketball and inspired a generation. They wear baggy and naughty clothes. Chris Webber is a big star. He also took a famous timeout. While some players leave early, the program can cover the time between recruitment and when the last Fab Five member leaves.

In 1991, the first FIFA Women’s World Cup was held. It was a great moment for women’s football. The United States won the tournament held in China. Everything was new, the stakes were high, and the Americans won. That makes for a good show.

New York Jets in 1968

This show culminated with the New York Jets winning Super Bowl III over the Baltimore Colts in a huge disappointment. It also has features Joe Namath. Namath has been with the Jets for a couple of seasons, but we think it’s best to focus on this campaign, maybe spending some time with the Colts.

Johnson spent 5 years with the Storm, and what were those 5 years. This is when Miami is becoming “The U.” They finished first or second in the final poll three times. They won a national title. Oh, and they’ve caused a lot of controversy along the way, too. It certainly won’t be a boring story.

The Miracle Mets

In the inaugural 1962 campaign, the Mets went to 40-120. They have never had a winning season in history. Then, in 1969, the Mets appeared out of nowhere. They went to 100-62 and not only went to their first World Finals, but won. It’s one of those Cinderella stories that sports fans love.

Kobe and Shaq Era, Los Angeles Lakers

Let’s finish with another version of the Lakers. The Showtime Lakers make for a compelling story, but they might not even be the best food for a show the franchise has to offer. After that, the Lakers will still have Jerry Buss as owner but will have Phil Jackson as head coach and Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal on the list. They quarrel, they win titles, they part ways. It may not be the Showtime Lakers, but they’re going to make a great show.
