Joining a long tradition of bad football coaches on their feet, former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer is back on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff about eight months after his tenure. there are experts who say he should never coach or work in television again. He joined the show during the 2019 and 2020 seasons after retiring from Ohio State, apparently because of health issues.

The Big Noon Kickoff and Big Noon Saturday will follow their founding guidelines and have a gig on Thursday in West Lafayette, Indiana for a game between Purdue and Penn State. This is where Meyer will probably make her first television appearance since being fired by the Jaguars.

In case you forgot the culture change Meyer brought to Jacksonville in just 13 games, he hired a strength coach who was fired from his last job because of allegations of racism. race, stayed in Ohio after the loss while the team flew home so he could go to his restaurant in Columbus and cozy up with a remarkable woman who wasn’t his wife, called an assistant. his coaches are losers, shunned players, said a player is getting more time playing defensively after a game in which they have not played anything other than the special team, and is said to have kicked a stone man. All are on track to hit a 2-11 record.

So I guess the big question about his first broadcast is, they can’t just pretend it didn’t happen, can they? I’m sure they’ll try, but they can’t completely ignore the elephant in the room, can they? Surely they can’t just be like, “Oh, hey Urban! Didn’t see you there. Welcome back. Anyway… “

Big Noon Kickoff is a show that is never afraid to ask important questions. Questions like, “What if College Gameday had all the fun out of it, but had a bigger table?” This is an insignificant point, but look at the program of FS1. Almost every show is in the ESPN format, just with a larger table.

Will Urban himself admit his wrongdoing? Doubt that. After being fired, he blamed having the worst coaching tenure in NFL history on “society has changed.” Are the other pros on the show going to lobby him for a softball to ask him about his most recent job without being really curious, like, “What did you learn in Jacksonville?” or “How is the NFL different from college?”

It’s hard to say right now, but I’m sure it’s going to be hard to ignore, and I bet incredibly awkward as well. I guess it’s going to be even harder to ignore all the profanity that’s about to be thrown at him by fans. They are literally throwing him into the abyss by letting him do a BIG 10 game in no time.

As an alumnus of Penn State, I feel like I speak for all of us when I say we don’t like that guy. Purdue fans probably too. And for the past year, Urban had given them an entire army’s worth of ammunition that they could use to mock him.
