What are you playing this weekend? (June 29)

Now, let’s see which team Nintendo Life will have this weekend..?

I hope to spend a little more time with Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD this weekend. This is definitely my favorite of the trilogy, but with such high quality, that’s no bad thing. I know that the quest structure isn’t for everyone, but I like to go into the mansion for 10 minutes at a time, do my silly little quests, and then leave. It’s bite-sized but sweet.

Elsewhere, I was very close to the end of my first time The Last of Us Part II playthrough and somehow I made it this far without spoilers. I’ll definitely finish that part this weekend and then probably feel bright, happy, and emotionally pain-free come Monday morning. That’s how this part ends, right?

I’m still a little tired. Metroids rock at the moment, but since I can’t bring myself to renew my NSO subscription at the moment, I’ll be sticking with my 3DS. I’m currently jumping between Metroid: Mission Zero, Metroid: The FusionAnd Super Metroid. Of course, each is one of the greatest of all time.

On PS5, I’m still working my way through System shock remake, and I think this might be my favorite game of the year..? It was a unique experience but at the same time, you can see how it affected people like Biological shock And Prey. How wonderful.

I’m playing the game to review! Interesting. This has really overwhelmed me so far, so I’m excited to write about it.

But other than that, I’m waiting for my companion to finish playing the new remake of divide so I can play it with him! I just finished playing Secret (for the first time) and now I feel like one of my gamer sins has been erased. Now I can finally call myself a true puzzle adventure game lover. I guess I should end it Witness Next… sigh.

While EA Sports FC 24 And Virtua 4 Striker ver. 2002 is still on the menu, that is Call of Duty: Infinite War takes the top spot for non-Switch action this week. It turns out that Space Above and Beyond (just ask your grandparents) video game, became my favorite single-player campaign in the entire series when I played it. However, Switch is where the main course takes place this weekend with NeoSprintLuigi’s Mansion 2 HD, The story of a monster hunter and the dizziness Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble All of which ensures June will end on a high note.

Game of the week is DarkStar One. Space flight/combat/trading games are few and far between, so when this old gem appeared on the eShop, I kept it on my radar. It turns out to be a big and exciting take on the iconic and revered Freelancer Elite with some interesting QoL updates and, unlike the original release, in a lovely 16:9 aspect ratio. I’m not sure I’ll have the time to finish it, but for now I’ll happily keep hopping from star system to star system to see what happens next.

That’s what we’ve got planned for the weekend, but what about you? Fill out the poll below with the game you’ll be playing over the next few days, then slide into the comments section to let us know what else made the list.
