‘We’ve seen strange things in boxing’

Famed boxer, Andre Ward, has made his prediction for the start of Deontay Wilder’s comeback track after two conclusive losses to current champ, Tyson Fury.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ was undefeated his entire career until he faced the man from Morecambe. The couple’s latest battle watched Wilder thrash in the ring and finally stop at the eleventh round.

Now, with his return to the ring with Robert Helenius just a few days away, Ward wants some questions answered. He talked to Max Kellerman about the heavyweight clash.

“The only question I have for Deontay Wilder is what, if any, lasting effects, [Fury] fight hold on to his psyche and physical body.

We’ve seen strange things in boxing… A guy gets knocked down for the first time in his career and suddenly he can’t take such a punch. Not saying that will be the case for Deontay Wilder, but you have to see those. “

Having said all that, the former two-weight world champion believes Wilder’s infamous strength will save the day once again.

“But in terms of his attacking behavior, in terms of his mentality, he will be like Deontay Wilder and I believe he will win the knockout in this match.”

Wilder could certainly choose an easier comeback fight. Helenius, despite the end of her career, is on a two-year streak and is impressive, winning over Adam Kownacki. ‘Nordic Nightmare’ has 20 wins by knockout and, while perhaps not as strong as Wilder, it certainly has what it takes to end the fight in the distance.

The couple met in the ring this Saturday in Arizona. US fans can watch via Fox Sports PPV for $74.99, while UK fans can watch on FITE TV for £12.99.
