West Coasters Breeze heads to the next Preps

Edited press release

The whole national treasure (Quality Sugar) and Skinner (make for curly) worked five stretches on Sunday to prepare for the GI Santa Anita Derby, which is also the final west coast prep for the GI Kentucky Derby. The day before, the Geaux Rocket Ride (candy ride {Arg}) has its first work since runner-up at GII San Felipe S.

National Treasure, the morning’s favorite sport in San Felipe before being scratched by a bruise on his leg, practiced five 1:00 stretch runs for coach Tim Yakteen. Stablemate’s actual move (Realistic jokes) and Reincarnation (good magic) used to work. After the drills, Yakteen said Practical Move, the eventual winner of San Felipe, will most likely stay up and run in the GI Santa Anita Derby. In return, Reborn will likely return to Oaklawn Park, where he won the GII Rebel S. to run in the GI Arkansas Derby on April 1.

Yakteen said National Treasure will run in the Santa Anita Derby or GI Blue Grass S. in Keeneland on April 8.

“He had a very good job this morning, very happy,” Yakteen added.

Skinner’s five-year job was completed at 1:01.60 for coach John Shirreffs, who confirmed Skinner was on his way to the Santa Anita Derby.
