Weekly Covid cases dip below 10k for 1st time in over 6 months | India News
NEW DELHI: Reported increase of XBB covariates are not yet reflected in Covid domestic numbers as the number of new cases continues to drop Diwali weekwith the total likely to fall below 10,000 for the first time in more than six months.
India is expected to report around 9,500 new cases in the week ending Sunday, down nearly 30% from the previous week’s 13,500. This is also the lowest weekly number of cases since April 11-17, when just over 8,000 new cases were recorded. Like last week, deaths from the virus are likely to remain under the age of 50. The seven-day test positivity rate – the proportion of samples that test positive for the virus – also remains below 1%.
