We stayed beautiful Carneros Resort and Spa in Napa Valley in the Garden suites with two connecting cottages and absolutely loved our time there. Will definitely be back soon!
Where we draw
The first winery we visited on Friday was Stag’s Leap, where we toured the vineyard and sampled a variety of wines, from Chardonnay’s to Red Blends.
After a few glasses of wine, we headed to the Faust Distillery in Coombsville, Napa Valley. We explored the beautiful 19th-century Victorian Faust Haus overlooking Mount Howell and the wider Napa Valley. The interior design of the house is our favorite part and was recently renovated with the help of Maca Huneeus Design. Faust is best known for their Cabernet Sauvignon and it certainly doesn’t disappoint!
Our first stop on Saturday is Quintessa, located in the heart of Rutherford, where five varieties are grown on the grounds: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère. Quintessa’s vineyard is one of our favorites, we had a particularly private tasting session in a glass structure overlooking this beautiful pond on the grounds (pictured below).
Last but not least, we visited the famous Opus One vineyard. Our tour is called Opus One Experience, an experience in the Partner Room. While tasting a variety of fine wines, we listened to the history of the vineyard and learned how each is produced.
Where we eat
Friday night, we dined at Yountville’s Ad Hoc, which focuses on serving American-style comfort food. This is one of many famous Thomas Keller restaurants. Every evening, a new four-course family-style menu is displayed on chalkboards around the restaurant. It’s famous for its fried chicken, pot roast and barbecue, which we obviously had to try.
Saturday night we dined at one of the best restaurants in the world – three Michelin stars – The French Laundry. A daily changing menu is offered in the form of a chef’s tasting menu, or a vegetable tasting menu with a focus on traditional French dishes. This place is definitely worth advertising!
