“We accept” – Eddie Hearn says all Fury-AJ contract details and “resolvable” issues
Eddie Hearn has added hope to a potential Tyson Fury – Anthony Joshua clash, saying that although there are things in the contract that must be worked out, all issues are ‘resolvable.’
It turns out that what can become The biggest boxing event in British history was born via Twitter videofollowed by George Warren, son of Frank, reaching out to Eddie Hearn to say “what do you think?”
Since then, while fans have cast doubt on the idea of an online war, it seems like things are progressing behind the scenes.
Eddie Hearn sat down with IFL TV to provide an update, which covers key questions that were raised during what appeared to be an unusually quick fight negotiation. In general, one could describe him as a quiet optimist.
“I don’t want to get people too excited because I have doubts, but what I can tell you is AJ is ready to fight him in December, the offer of that fight – we are talking okay, so let’s see if we can iron the other bits and see where we go. “
On the wallet, Hearn and more importantly AJ, glad to accept 60/40.
“I think he deserves more than 40%, but he is happy. And I don’t make decisions, he does. So I came back this morning and said ‘we accept 60/40.’
Moving on to a possible fight, it was announced this morning that the contract sent to Matchroom mentions the 11th. This is another potential sticking point that seems likely to be worked out. in a unique way.
“Interesting, they [Queensbury] there’s December 17 held at Millennium Stadium, so that was perfect for us. That’s the day I think he’s going to fight Derek Chisora.”
Competing for TV deals is another point where many feel the battle will be over. According to the AJ promoter, conversations have begun to keep all parties happy.
“AJ has an exclusive global deal with DAZN, but George and I talked about ways to share that with BT. [Sport] et cetera. So, in essence, we accept the offer.”
Finally, on the rematch clause, Hearn confirmed that it was in the contract and that his team is in the process of renegotiating the proposed division if AJ wins and the second game goes. .
“It was offered at 50/50. We think that if you say you are the champion and you get 60/40, we believe that when AJ is the champion, that split will be reversed. It’s very straight forward of a deal.
They want the rematch clause, we don’t whine about the rematch clause. He’s the champion. We had rematch clauses in our deal when AJ won, so we had no problem with a rematch when AJ won. “
All of this looks positive, perhaps surprising given the history between the two factions, though it’s important to note that we haven’t heard Queensbury handle all of these potential issues. Undoubtedly, that will be out soon, bringing with it more points worth mentioning.
However, as we await the collapse of the negotiations that some say is inevitable, the longer it does not last, the more we must admit that we may only have a one-on-one war. here…
