WBO Orders Janibek Alimkhanuly To Protect Jaime Munguia Next If He Beats Denzel Bentley

Via Dan Ambrose: WBO President Paco Valcarcel revealed today that they will order undefeated middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly (12-0.8 KOs) to defend against his mandatory Jaime Munguia in the next competition, with condition he successfully defeats rival Denzel Bentley next month on November 12.

The question is whether Golden Boy Promotions, who promote the undefeated 26-year-old Munguia (40-0.32 KOs), will allow him to join the dangerous fight against Janibek.

With the punching power, speed, and boxing skills that nampaw Janibek possessed, it was unlikely that Golden Boy would let Munguia take on him.

Munguia’s opposition has largely been weak throughout his nine-year professional career, especially since he moved to 160 in 2020.

If he does face Janibek, it would represent a huge step up in class for the Mexican-born, and he doesn’t have the required experience to take on a fighter in this division.

Given the way Golden Boy fits into Munguia, it can be doubted that he will gain the necessary experience before breaking through to the weight class, which you could argue he already has.

Munguia is HUGE for the 160 lb weight class and has looked like a full-fledged 168-pound athlete in just two years in the weight class.

Golden Boy tried to pit 40-year-old IBF & WBA middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin against Munguia, and you can see why.

It would be a win-win situation for Munguia & Golden Boy if they had to face aging Golovkin. Even if Munguia loses to GGG, the money he gets for that match will be substantial, it’s worth it.

However, given Golovkin’s view of his last four skirmishes, Munguia will have a great chance of defeating him. Golovkin seems to have lost hand speed over the past four years, and in his last game against Canelo Alvarez on September 17, he failed to activate his shots.

29-year-old Janibek will defend her newly won WBO middleweight title against 14th-place Denzel Bentley (17-1-1, 14 KOs) on November 12 on ESPN at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Top Rated promoter Bob Arum wants to make 2016 Olympic athlete Janibek a star and he would be overjoyed if he could fight Munguia for the scalp.

Dangerous Nampaw Janibek was elevated to WBO middleweight champion last August after previous belt holder Demetrius Andrade decided not to fight him.
