WBC President gives Tyson Fury 2 weeks to confirm retirement until August 26
Via Charles Brun: WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has revealed that his organization will give heavyweight champion Tyson Fury two weeks until August 26 to confirm in writing that he will be retiring from the sport.
If Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) puts pen to paper on his retirement, the WBC will meet to decide who will fight for their vacant title.
It is believed that the WBC will order Deontay Wilder to face the winner of a showdown between Andy Ruiz Jr and Luis Ortiz for the vacant title if Fury gives it up.
As of now, Fury DOES NOT strip him of his WBC belt. Earlier today, Fury vacated his Ring Magazine belt, but NOT his WBC title.
State This is other fake retirement game for Fury, he’ll keep his WBC title and then wait until it clears up from the August 20 fight between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. This will allow Fury to decide if he wants to fight the winner.
Fury’s ability to ensure that Joshua wins his rematch with Usyk before he slips out to fight AJ is unquestionable.
Usyk is clearly not Fury’s cup of tea, which means he is likely to change course if he beats Joshua next week. There’s more money to Fury fighting Joshua than Usyk, and it doesn’t matter if he fails or not. The amount will still be huge for Fury to fight AJ.
Usyk will likely beat Joshua again, and Fury would be silly choosing to fight AJ over the unification champion.
“We had a conversation with his promoter and we gave him ten days, until August 26 (August), so they could send us a written confirmation of the decision. his final decision,” said WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman. Izquierdazo. “With that, we can proceed to solve the situation with the belt.”
“We will wait until August 26,” said Sulaiman. “It is our deadline for an official confirmation of their final decision. We are in no hurry. He has been a big hero in the ring and beyond it. “
