Washington Commanders need to fire defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio

Time to go.

Time to go.

Jackass, I mean Jack Del Rio’s latest blunder has been fueled by actually coaching soccer. That was instead of shooting out his mouth about mitigating an uprising.

The Commanders’ defensive coordinator was brought to Washington by head coach Ron Rivera to help carve and further refine the fledgling defensive gems the team has spent the past several years drafting. The brand hasn’t been able to gain momentum with a consistent starting midfield for 30 years, so why not build around a defence and hope you score enough points to win the title?

It was a bold strategy, but at least the team had a direction.

Well, we’re entering the two-week NFL season and the Commanders are drawing 1-1. They took on the Leopards and the Lions, two of the league’s surprise teams to kick off the season. Washington’s defense is also clearly incapable of stopping a fundamental breach of the NFL. Over the past few months, let’s take a look at the ways Del Rio has improved Commanders’ defenses! Still searching? It could be a while if not forever. He won’t cut it in Washington and if the team’s struggle continues, he will be heard from Dan Snyder’s organization first. Which will say a lot.

I assume Rivera isn’t in the hot seat yet. Carson Wentz’s growth shouldn’t be his burden, though, as he’s done enough in both games to win. Wentz’s mistakes clearly didn’t come from the touchline in either game. Sometimes he looks like Peyton Manning and then Ryan Leaf. You never know what will happen next! It’s the opposite end of the spectrum for Del Rio. The scheme and the lack of in-game adjustments are piling up and giving Detroit a huge lead last week. It’s also how Jacksonville narrowly beat Washington in Week 1.

The commanders are near the end of the tournament when it comes to every defensive statistic. In total allowable yards, they are ranked sixth with Tennessee and Pittsburgh. Washington is in the bottom half of the allowed javelin and javelin, respectively. It’s much worse given their ground discontinuation rate, which ranks fifth to last in the NFL. The Commanders are also ranked fourth worst in allowable points (58) with the Rams and Falcons. Good resume, Jack.

Let’s take a look at individual performances. Who in Commander Has the defense improved significantly compared to last season? Darrick Forrest? Cole Holcomb? Sure, there are some cases on the back side. With the wealth that Washington has, it is not enough. Chase Young is injured and will make a splash for a struggling unit when he returns from injury. This was a pivotal moment in Young’s career to prove his “can’t-miss” status out of Ohio State.

The local kid, who played for the County’s most revered high school, DeMatha Catholic, returns to help lead what was once a model NFL franchise from the depths of irresponsibility and needlessness on the field may never materialize. That failed prophecy will partly rest on Young’s shoulders. It will also fall into the hands of several former and current Washington coaches, none more prominent than the current D..C. in Del Rio.

My NFL trigger finger is much higher than the higher levels of Washington yes In recent years. Throughout the return to the disastrous Jim Zorn, I believe the franchise moved like molasses to fire the coaches. Jay Gruden has been too long. So does Mike Shanahan. Now, Del Rio is entering that territory. If the Commanders don’t show a better consistent performance over the next few games, Rivera will have no choice. If it was one of the famous members of the Chicago Bears 1985 defense, or his defensive coordinator getting a hammer for bad play, best believe the former Jaguars and Raiders head coach is the one being told the paths to happiness.

What could fix the problems with Washington’s defense other than getting the employee healthy and immediately firing the unit leader? Let’s start with a scheme that really suits the current defence, and Del Rio doesn’t call up younger players because mistakes are actually part of his fault. Del Rio’s defense played above average in 2020 and improved in 2021 before a coronavirus outbreak infected the team later in the year. Now, the Commanders have failed and Del Rio should be overthrown for it.
