I’ll admit it: I’ve been eyeing designer raffia bags lately. One thing, though, is that I’m really having a hard time justifying the $100 and sometimes $1000 price tags. (For context, a donkey tried to eat my straw bag once, and I’ll never forget it – The proof is here). I usually try not to splurge on accessories, so I’m no stranger to New arrivals at Walmart – which I recommend checking that it’s been a while since you’ve done so.
During a recent visit to the website, I came across Scoop Large crescent-shaped crossbody bag made of straw ($28, originally $34) and painted in a cute crescent and scarf detail. Sadly, it sold out at the time (no big surprises there), so I went with the next best pick: Scoop Small crescent-shaped crossbody bag made of straw ($26, originally $32) in Natural shade. From the moment I hit “confirm order” I could already find myself combining it with a White dress or one down button and jeans.
I did really pleased when this bag arrived at my doorstep. The inside is surprisingly spacious; I can fit my phone, wallet, sunglasses, hand sanitizer and lip gloss, with room to spare. It even has an interior zippered pocket for small, easily lost items that you want to be extra careful with. Oh, and the detachable crossbody strap is great if you’re going to switch between over-the-shoulder and on-hand wear.
One thing to note: Walmart’s description of the product says that the scarf is removable, but it is. . . Not. It’s not exactly a big deal if you like the color you’ve chosen, but if you want to get rid of it, you might want to reconsider or, perhaps, consider a different color (maybe black or white). pink?). Regardless of which you choose, I think you’ll get a lot of compliments – maybe even more than what you get with a designer bag.
