Walmart moves into the upmarket – WSJ
Walmart Its “low daily prices” motto is paying off with a growing customer base, albeit at a lower cost than its profits.
The retail giant said Tuesday that the US chain of Walmart stores is branded Same-store sales up 6.5% compared with a year earlier in the quarter ended July 29, better than the 6% growth it forecast in last month update. Both its operating and adjusted earnings beat analyst expectations, which fell after Walmart lowered its profit forecast last month.
