America’s largest retailer has a new message for its suppliers: We won’t pay higher prices.
Walmart Inc. Managing director Doug McMillon issued the warning directly last month when it appeared before companies that make products sold by the company’s Sam’s Club chain. In a hotel auditorium, he said Walmart would resist attempts by suppliers to raise prices, according to people familiar with the situation. According to these people, innovative products will drive more buyers.
