Italy during VNL Week 2 in Manila. –VOLLEYBALL WORLD
MANILA, Philippines – Italy kicked off a buzz in Quezon City by beating Germany, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, in the National Volleyball League (VNL) on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Italians staged a block party, nailing 12 blocks – each rejected by Gianluca Galassi and Simone Anzani – to claim their fourth win in five matches.

“We blocked pretty well. That is important today because of the German spike,” said Romano.
Galassi got 11 points, while Anzani and Daniele Lavia added 9 each.
While they stand tall on containment, Romano is putting even more emphasis on improving their attacks with three more games left in Week 2.
“Today we did well in everything but we can improve in other things,” he said as Italy barely overtook Germany in attack with a 35-33 difference in mutations.
Italy tied the three to a 4-1 draw, along with Tokyo Olympic gold medalists France and Japan, as the United States remained unbeaten in four games.
The Italians face Japan on Friday
Linus Weber gives Germany 14 points, all of which have come from attacks. Lukas Maase has seven markers consisting of two blocks.
The Germans, who dropped 24 points for their error, beat the record 3-2 before facing China on Thursday.
