Vitamin B9 deficiency: Warning sign of this condition – increased risk of disease
“The longer the condition goes untreated, the greater the chance of permanent damage.”
What causes folate deficiency?
When folate is water-soluble, the body cannot store the nutrient for a long time.
The body’s folate stores usually last for about 4 months, which means you need to get enough folate in your diet every day to not be deficient in vitamin B9.
Good sources of folate include: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, peas, green beans and brown rice.
