Vince Staples lands his own scripted comedy series at Netflix with Kenya Barris set to executive produce


Netflix continues to be part of the green light gang and rappers Vince Staples be the latest to benefit. It was just announced that Vince Staples has finished his own scripted comedy series — and ‘Black-ish’ creator Kenya Barris is coming to help.
@Deadline reports, Vince Staples is set to show off his comedic skills in front of the camera thanks to streaming giant Netflix, as it confirmed that ‘The Vince Staples Show’ is happening. The semi-autobiographical series is based on Vince’s life, where he will act as creator, co-executive producer and star. The upcoming series is Kenya Barris’ latest project in his multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.
Speaking of stepping into the shoes as the lead in his own show, Vince expressed excitement. “I am delighted to be partnering with Netflix and Kenya Barris on ‘The Vince Staples Show’. This is something I’ve been working on for a while and I’m glad it’s coming to fruition,” he said.
Similarly, Netflix’s Head of Comedy, Tracy Pakosta, also shared how the company is looking forward to the project. “Our mission is to work with the best artists in the world. Vince has established himself as one of the most talented young musicians out there, and we’re really excited about how his sensibility – and sense of humor – will translate into a unique series of comedies. . “
