Sheldon meets Sheldon! Jim Parsons smiling while taking a selfie with Iain Armitage, who played the classic role of Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory spinoff series Young Sheldon, on Monday, October 17. Jim, 49, of course, plays Sheldon on the classic sitcom. Iain, 14, posted the photo with the actor, who originally played the role, on Instagramrevealed that they met at Jim’s latest stage production. Both Jim and Iain had big smiles on their faces as they stood in the theater.
Iain has shared lots of photos from his time at the Big Apple on his Instagram. The young star is clearly a big fan of Broadway, he has posted a lot of pictures with his plays for shows like Into The Woods, Kimberly Akimbo, and more. He revealed that he and Jim met at the production of Jim’s latest show A man is not important. “This is the whole reason I come to NYC! It’s one of my favorite places to go in the fall, so I’m always looking for an excuse to go there. When I heard that [Jim Parsons] appeared on stage in [Classic Stage’s] producing Man Doesn’t Matter, I knew I had to get there,” he wrote in his caption.
Iain clearly had a lot of fun and enjoyed the show. He said he was in the front row of one of the previews. “Jim is incredible and he is surrounded by an incredible cast. Honestly, I want to go back and watch it all again! ‘ he wrote. “I feel so blessed and happy that I got to go!”
The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, so most viewers haven’t seen Jim as Sheldon in a couple of years. The Emmy Award winner first appeared on the sitcom in 2007, and he went on to play Sheldon for 12 seasons and 280 episodes. Before the final season, spin-off, starring Iainstarted in 2017. Although it may not be the same as The Big Bang Theory Jim still talks about Young Sheldon, and he’s also the show’s executive producer.
While Iain was playing Young Sheldon For a short time, Jim celebrated his performance as an adolescent version of his classic character, much like in a duo interview the two did with Tonight’s reception in 2017. “It’s really inspiring to watch. There’s only one way that he’s dealt with all of this, and that’s the fun and joy of the process,” he said of the young star. “You are a reminder to — I think — anyone who has been doing it for a while just to remember how fun it was.”
